Several Oglethorpe athletic teams have seen weekend plans change due to the potential impacts of Hurricane Florence.
The men's soccer team was scheduled to travel to Virginia to play No. 7 Lynchburg in Lynchburg on Friday night and Christopher Newport in Newport News on Sunday afternoon. Both of those games have now been postponed, with any makeup dates to be determined.
In addition, the men's cross country team was set to send a squad to Greenville, South Carolina, for the Furman Cross Country Classic on Saturday morning. That event has now been canceled, but the Stormy Petrel men's and women's cross country teams will still compete at the Rhodes College Invitational on Saturday morning in Memphis, Tennessee. The men's eight-kilometer race will get started from the Shelby Farms course at 9:30 a.m. Eastern, with the women's six-kilometer race set for 10:15 a.m.
UPDATED (Sept. 13): The volleyball team will add a match against Huntingdon while in Danville, Kentucky, on Sunday to take on SAA foe Centre. They'll now play the Colonels at 1 p.m., followed by the Hawks at approximately 3:30 p.m.
Huntingdon was scheduled to play matches in Danville, Virginia, and Greensboro, North Carolina, this week, but all were canceled due to Florence.
The Petrels will still play their home opener against Huntingdon on Thursday, Sept. 20, at 8 p.m. in Dorough Field House.
