Freshman Jacob Hadden of the Oglethorpe men's cross country team has been named the SAAC Male Athlete of the Week for his efforts in the team's second-place finish at the Georgia NCAA Division III Invitational over the weekend. He won SAA Men's Runner of the Week honors, as well.
Hadden came in fifth among the 79-runner field with a time of 27 minutes, 21.8 seconds. That mark set the Oglethorpe freshman record in the men's eight-kilometer race, and put him within 30 seconds of the winning time of Emory's Marty Pimentel. In addition to the freshman school record, Hadden also posted the fourth-fastest eight-kilometer time in school history with that mark.
Hadden and the rest of the Petrels now get set to face off against Division I and Division II competition when they travel to Greenville, South Carolina, for the Furman Invitational Saturday morning.
