Freshman center Savannah LeGate of the Oglethorpe women's basketball team has been named the SAAC Female Athlete of the Week for her efforts in the team's run through the SAA Tournament over the weekend.

LeGate took tournament MVP honors at the event, averaging 16.7 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game over the three contests while shooting the ball at a 58.5 percent clip from the field, leading the Stormy Petrels to their first SAA championship. Earlier in the week, she also took home SAA Player of the Year and SAA Newcomer of the Year honors.

She leads the league and is 10th in the nation with 18 double-doubles on the season. She also leads the conference in rebounding (10.8 per game) and offensive rebounding (5.0).

After earning the SAA's automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship field, LeGate and the rest of the Petrels now head to Crestview Hills, Kentucky, where they'll take on No. 3 Thomas More Friday night at 7 p.m. in the first round of the tournament.
