Sophomore midfielder Topher Marshall of the Oglethorpe men's soccer team has been named the SAAC Male Athlete of the Week for his efforts in the Stormy Petrels' two big SAA victories over Millsaps and Birmingham-Southern.
Marshall scored three goals and tallied an assist as his team went 2-0 with big wins over Millsaps and Birmingham-Southern. Marshall recorded his second hat trick of the season Friday night in the team's 8-1 win over Millsaps, and also recorded an assist on the goal that put the game away in Sunday's 3-0 win over Birmingham-Southern. In addition, he put four of his six shots on goal, converting a penalty kick in the process, as well. For the season, Marshall is tied with teammate Ryan Marcano for the league lead in goals (10), is second in points (22), and is third in shots (48).
Marshall and the rest of the Petrels now get set to take on crosstown rival Emory Wednesday night at 7 p.m. from the Oglethorpe Track and Field, then will look to clinch their third straight SAA regular season title, which they can do with a tie Friday night at 7 p.m. in their final conference game of the season against Berry.
