Freshman Omari Miller of the Oglethorpe men's track and field team has been named the SAAC Male Athlete of the Week by his peers in the Oglethorpe Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Miller had a wonderful 2-race performance at the Mountain Laurel Invitational in Sewanee, Tennessee, this past weekend. He finished second in the men's 400-meter dash with a personal record time of 50.48 seconds. This time currently ranks him third in the SAA. Later in the evening, Miller led the Oglethorpe men's 4-x-400 relay team to a new school record time of 3 minutes, 25.74 seconds. This sits the men's team second in the SAA heading into the SAA Track and Field Championships this week. The previous OU school record was set in 1999.
Miller and the rest of the Petrels will now get ready for the conference meet, which will take place Friday and Saturday in Mount Berry.
