Oglethorpe senior right fielder Nick Manai was named the SAA Player of the Week today for his work during the week of March 18-24. It is the first time he has won the award this season.
Manai crushed the ball for the Petrels this week, helping them to a 3-2 record. He hit .619 (13-for-21) over the five games, with three doubles, a walk, six RBIs, and three runs scored. During the weekend SAA series against Berry, he went 9-for-15 with three doubles, four RBIs, and a run scored, including a 4-for-5 day on Friday. On the week, Manai raised his batting average nearly 100 points, from .262 to .359. For the season, he has a .427 on-base percentage, in addition to his .359 batting average. His 28 hits put him at 11th in the league currently.
Manai and the Petrels get back to SAA play this weekend, when they travel to Jackson, Miss., to take on Millsaps in a three-game set. Friday's game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Eastern, while Saturday and Sunday's games will get underway at 2 p.m. The Petrels are currently 5-15 on the year, 2-7 in conference play.
