Senior guards Christian Molinet and Branden Jovaag, as well as sophomore center Jordan Kinney, were all named to the SAA All-Conference teams yesterday evening. Molinet and Jovaag garnered Second Team All-SAA honors, while Kinney took kome honorable mention, as voted by the league's coaches. This marks the first all-conference designation for all three players.
Molinet, a native of Miami, broke Oglethorpe single-season records and finished first in the conference with 137 overall assists and 5.1 assists per game. He also accumulated 68 steals, finishing second in the league with 2.5 per game. He averaged 11.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game, and finished with 300 points on the season. He was named SAA Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 19-25.
Jovaag, a native of Gainesville, Ga., finished first in the league in three-point shooting with a 45.3 percent mark. He made 91 three-point shots, also first in the league. The former puts him 10th on the school's single-season list, while the latter puts him second. He was named to the Capital One Academic All-District team for District 5 this season, as voted by the College Sports Information Directors of America. He also took home SAA Player of the Week honors for the week of Dec. 3-9. Jovaag was named to the SAA All-Tournament team for his play over the weekend. In the tournament, he averaged 12.5 points a game and shot 42.9 percent from three-point range.
Kinney, a native of Acworth, Ga., came into his own this season for the Petrels. He finished fifth in the league in field-goal percentage, shooting at a 51.7 percent clip. His 0.6 blocks per game tied him for sixth in the conference, and he wound up with 11.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. In conference play specifically, he did even better, shooting at a 53.4 percent clip.
