Strong Fall Propels Golfers Up National Rankings

The final Golf World/Nike Golf Men's Division III College Coaches' Poll of the fall season has been released and the Stormy Petrels men's golf team has risen from No. 11 to No. 6 based on their strong performance this fall.

Competing in fields loaded with the nations best squads throughout the fall, Oglethorpe recorded two fifth place finishes (Rhodes Classic, Gordin Classic), one fourth place (Golfweek) and closed the season with an 8th place finish at Royal Lakes.

Winners of the 2009 National Championship, the Petrels are now in solid position to claim their 14th invitation to the season-ending tournament in May. Oglethorpe is co-hosting the 2012 Men's Golf Championships with the Central Florida Sports Commission and the week-long event will be held at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.

The Petrels are off until the spring when on March 4 they enter the Wynlakes Collegiate Classic hosted by Huntingdon College.
