Golfers Capture Third Straight Second Place Finish at Emory

Playing in yet another loaded field with top-flight squads,. the men's golf team produced their third straigh second place finish in the spring season at the Emory Spring Invitational at the Druid Hills Country Club that concluded today.

The Petrels held a three stroke lead on the field heading into Tuesday's final round but the Methodist Monarchs stormed from 6 shots back to take the title by posting a team total of 582 for the tournament, 7 strokes clear of Oglethorpe.

The men's golfers have enjoyed a spring season in which they've been bridesmaids three times and champions once (Wynter Wynlakes) among four starts. Those high-octane results have the Petrels all but assured of making their 12th straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Junior Eric Quinn led the Petrels around Druid hills by posting a 1-over par total that left him in a tie for fifth place. Sophomore Hayden Jones carded 3-over to come home in a tie for 13th while freshman Anthony Maccaglia scored 6-over to finish tied for 28th. Anthony Amodeo (+7) finished in 32nd position while senior Matt Rebitch (+9) finished tied for 38th.

Oglethorpe will have a week off before gearing up to try and win their 10th SCAC Title at the Conference Championships later this month.
