The Oglethorpe men's golf team took home third place at the Golfweek Fall Invitational Division III at the Raven Golf Club at Sandestin in Destin, Fla., early this week, finishing just three strokes behind first-place St. John's.
Sophomore Anthony Maccaglia was the high finisher for the Petrels, finshing in a tie for sixth place individually after a two-under 69 today. He finished at three-over for the tournament, 11 strokes behind the winner, Cory Howard from LaGrange, who shot an amazing eight-under for the tournament.
Senior Eric Quinn finished in a tie for eighth after a one-under 70 today. Sophomore Hayden Jones finished in a tie for 13th at five-over. Freshman Braden Baer took a tie for 61st by shooting 19 over for the tournament and junior Anthony Amodeo tied for 67th at +20.
The Petrels posted the second-best final round score as a team, coming in at one-over par for the day. The score helped them move up from seventh to their finishing position of third. The only team that shot better on Tuesday was St. John Fisher, who posted a score of one-under par for the day.
This concludes the Petrels' fall schedule. Golf competition will resume during the spring.
