Oglethorpe sophomore Anthony Maccaglia was named the SAA men's golfer of the week for the second consecutive week by the league's coaches today.
Maccaglia fired rounds of 73, 73, and 72 for a total of 218 and a two-over par third-place finish, one stroke off the lead of the tournament co-medalists, at last weekend's Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Oglethorpe at Pine Lakes Golf Course in Jekyll Island, Ga. Maccaglia's performance helped No. 1 ranked Oglethorpe to a third-place finish of their own in the stacked 30-team field.
Individually, Maccaglia is the second-ranked Division III player in the nation according to Golfstat's head-to-head ranking system, and is 33rd in the nation among all college golfers at every level in the Golfstat Cup standings. The Golfstat Cup is awarded to the top player in the nation at all levels at the end of the season.
