  • Arnett Earns Second Team All-America Honors from Golf Coaches

    Junior Jacob Arnett of the Oglethorpe men's golf team saw his season capped off with a spot on the Division III Ping All-America Second Team Wednesday, as selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). It marked his second consecutive GCAA All-America selection, making him the ninth Oglethorpe men's golfer to earn multiple career All-America honors from the organization. It also marked the 29th All-America selection in the program's history, and the seventh straight year in which a Stormy Petrel men's golfer has earned All-America honors.
  • Seventy-Six Stormy Petrels Earn Spot on Spring Semester Dean's List

    The Oglethorpe athletic department saw 76 varsity student-athletes named to the university's spring semester Dean's Academic Honors List this week. Students who earned a spot on the spring Dean's List earned a 3.5 GPA over the course of the semester while accruing 12 or more credit hours. The 76 student-athletes joined a total of 356 students overall to earn a spot on the spring Dean's List.
  • Eighty-Eight Stormy Petrels Named to 2018 SAA Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll

    The Oglethorpe athletic department saw 88 student-athletes named to the Southern Athletic Association 2018 Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll Monday.
  • Arnett Ties for 24th at NCAA Championships

    Junior Jacob Arnett of the Oglethorpe men's golf team remained in the top 10 Thursday in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he was competing at the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships. He fired a 2-over-par 74 on the day to stay in excellent position headed into Friday's final round. The Stormy Petrel found himself tied for ninth at even-par 216 over the first 54 holes, putting him seven strokes back of Washington and Lee's Brian Peccie, the tournament leader. 
  • Arnett Earns Coaches' All-Southeast Region Honors

    Junior Jacob Arnett of the Oglethorpe men's golf team was named to the All-Southest Region team by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Tuesday night, marking the third consecutive time he's accomplished the feat.

    Junior Jacob Arnett of the Oglethorpe men's golf team is set to compete this week in the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships. The event will take place at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina, over four rounds running Tuesday through Friday, and Arnett will be competing in his third consecutive NCAA Championships, his first as an individual.

    Junior Jacob Arnett will be competing in his third consecutive NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship May 15 through 18 in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Stormy Petrel qualified for the tournament as one of the six top individuals in the country that are not on one of the 42 participating teams.

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team stayed put at the No. 21 spot in the latest Division III Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll, released Friday by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Friday's poll was the final top 25 released prior to the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship, which will take place May 15 through 18 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
  • Arnett Named to List of Division III Jack Nicklaus Award Semifinalists

    Junior Jacob Arnett of the Oglethorpe men's golf team has been named as a semifinalist for the 2018 Division III Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award by the Golf Coaches Association of America, marking his second consecutive season on the 30-man list.
  • Oglethorpe Athletics Closes 2017-18 Season with Petey Awards Ceremony

    The Oglethorpe athletic department rounded out the season with the Sixth Annual Petey Awards on Sunday, hosted at the university's Turner Lynch Campus Center. The event, which is produced by the Oglethorpe Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), allowed Oglethorpe student-athletes to honor the best and brightest performances of the year while reflecting on the 2017-18 athletic year as a whole.
  • Men's Golf Earns Several End-of-Year SAA Accolades

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team saw three players earn All-SAA accolades this week after the SAA Golf Championships in Dickson, Tennessee. Junior Jacob Arnett shared the SAA Men's Golfer of the Year award while freshman Anthony DeRosa took SAA Newcomer of the Year honors. Both earned spots on the All-SAA First Team, while freshman Tyler Rover grabbed a spot on the All-SAA Second Team.
  • Men's Golf Finishes Tied for Second at SAA Championships

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team shot an 11-over-par 299 at a rain-soaked Greystone Golf Club in Dickson, Tennessee, on Sunday, pulling themselves up into a tie for second to finish the SAA Golf Championships at 35-over 899. That put them 20 strokes back of champion Rhodes, and left them tied with Sewanee for second.
  • Men's Golf Finishes Tied for Eighth at Emory Spring Invitational

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team moved up the leaderboard three spots on Sunday and knocked eight strokes off their first-round total, but it just wasn't enough to put them among the leaders after they dug a hole for themselves Saturday at the Emory Spring Invitational in Stone Mountain. The Stormy Petrels shot a 19-over-par 299 on Sunday at the Smoke Rise Country Club, allowing themselves to move up to a tie for eighth with Ohio Wesleyan, 42 strokes back of champion Emory. 
  • Men's Golf 16th in Latest Coaches Poll

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team dropped seven spots to No. 16 in the latest Division III Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll, released on Friday by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The Stormy Petrels were ninth in the previous poll, released in early March, after rocketing up from 18th in the poll released just prior to the spring season.
  • Jacob Arnett Takes Second Straight SAA Men's Golfer of the Week Honors

    Junior Jacob Arnett of the Oglethorpe men's golf team has been named the SAA Men's Golfer of the Week, as voted by the league's coaches. It marks the second consecutive SAA Men's Golfer of the Week award that Arnett has won after he took co-golfer of the week honors last week.
  • Men's Golf Finishes Fourth at Rain-Shortened Camp Lejeune Championship; Arnett Takes Individual Medal

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team finished fifth over the weekend at the rain-shortened Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate Golf Championship, posting a 12-over-par 580 over two rounds at Paradise Point in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Sunday's final round was canceled due to wet course conditions from overnight rain, locking in the scores over the previous two rounds as the official scores for the tournament.
  • Men's Golf Finishes 15th at Jekyll Island Collegiate

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team finished 15th at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational this weekend, posting a 31-over-par 895 over 54 holes on the Pine Lakes course at Jekyll Island Golf Club. The Stormy Petrels shot a 12-over 300 on Sunday, staying in the same spot on the leaderboard that they held after Saturday's second round. They finished 42 strokes behind champions Methodist, who posted an impressive 11-under 853 for the tournament to win by 11 strokes over their nearest competitor.
  • Men's Golf Gets Set to Host 19th Annual Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational

    The Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational began in March of 2001 with three teams - Oglethorpe, Augsburg and Williams - gathered on the island for the first collegiate invitational. Nineteen years later, 30 men’s teams and 24 women’s teams will gather in March of 2018 with over 300 players, including individuals.
  • Men's Golf Jumps Nine Spots in Latest Coaches Poll

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team jumped all the way to No. 9 in the latest Division III Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll on Friday, released by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The Stormy Petrels sat in the No. 18 spot for the first poll release of the spring season on Feb. 16.
  • Men's Golf Takes Callaway Gardens Collegiate to Get Spring Season Started with a Bang

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team got their spring season off to an outstanding start this week at the Callaway Gardens Collegiate Invitational in Pine Mountain, earning a 5-stroke victory at the Callaway Gardens Mountain View course. The Stormy Petrels finished Monday at 3-under-par 285 for the day, putting themselves five strokes ahead of second-place Methodist headed into Tuesday's final round. The Petrels got outstanding performances from a bunch of competitors on Monday, as all four golfers who counted on the Oglethorpe scorecard put up rounds of 73 or below. That round held up, as it turned out, with bad weather forcing the cancellation of the second and final round on Tuesday. That meant that the tournament rested entirely on Monday's 18-hole round.

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team dropped two spots to No. 18 in the final Division III Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll of the fall season, selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The Stormy Petrels fell from the No. 16 spot in the Oct. 20 poll and from a high of 11th in the preseason poll.
  • Men's Golf Ends Fall Season on Winning Note, Takes Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational Title

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team collected their second trophy of the fall season in their final tournament before the winter break this week, completing their victory at the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational in Rome with a 7-over-par 295 Tuesday to hold off the hard-charging North Carolina Wesleyan Battling Bishops to take the 54-hole tournament by eight strokes at 2-over 866.

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team fell three spots to No. 16 in the latest Division III Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll, released Friday by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The Stormy Petrels were in the No. 13 spot in the Sept. 29 poll and were 11th in the preseason poll.
  • Men's Golf Finishes 10th at Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team fired a 9-over-par 293 on Tuesday at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort's Raven Golf Club, allowing them to move into the top 10 on the final day at the Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational in Miramar Beach, Florida. The Stormy Petrels finished the three-day, 54-hole event with a 28-over 880 to put themselves 23 strokes back of champion St. Thomas (Minnesota). 
  • Men's Golf Finishes Tied for Fifth at Rain-Soaked Oglethorpe-Royal Lakes Fall Invitational

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team moved nine spots up the leaderboard in the final round of the Oglethorpe-Royal Lakes Fall Invitational, which was completed Sunday at a rainy Royal Lakes Golf and Country Club in Flowery Branch, and finished the 36-hole tournament tied for fifth at 14-over-par 590 to come in 11 strokes back of champions Greensboro. The Stormy Petrels posted a 1-over 289 over the final round and finished deadlocked with Birmingham-Southern, who fired a 4-over 292 for the final round.

  • Men's Golf Finishes 12th at Tournament Town Championship Preview after Final Round 301

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team completed their two-day stay in Greensboro, North Carolina, Monday with their best round of the 54-hole Tournament Town Championship Preview, firing a 13-over-par 301 to finish the tournament in 12th place at 48-over 912, 37 strokes back of champions Texas-Tyler.
  • Men's Golf Shares Victory at SAA Fall Preview
    September 10, 2017
    The Oglethorpe men's golf team picked up their first trophy in over a year Sunday, as they shared top honors with Sewanee at the SAA Fall Preview in Dickson, Tennessee. The Stormy Petrels came back with the low round of the tournament on Sunday afternoon, posting a 3-under-par 285 in the second round to vault from fourth after the morning's opening round into a tie for first with the Tigers. Oglethorpe and Sewanee finished at 3-over 579 for the tournament, a couple strokes ahead of tournament guests Huntingdon. It was their first tournament championship since the 2016 SAA Championship.
