  • Men's Golf Drops to Third after Two Rounds at SAA Championships

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team had a tough back nine Saturday at the SAA Golf Championships, recording nine holes with double bogey or worse over the back nine to finish at 23-over-par 311 on the day. That result dropped the Stormy Petrels to third place at 24-over 600 over 36 holes, 11 strokes behind leaders Rhodes. The Petrels carded 11 birdies and just one double bogey on the front nine at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson, Tennessee, but the back half put them behind the eight-ball headed to Sunday's final round, sitting 11 back of Rhodes and five behind second-place Sewanee.
  • Men's Golf Finishes Tied for Eighth at Emory Spring Invitational

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team moved up the leaderboard three spots on Sunday and knocked eight strokes off their first-round total, but it just wasn't enough to put them among the leaders after they dug a hole for themselves Saturday at the Emory Spring Invitational in Stone Mountain. The Stormy Petrels shot a 19-over-par 299 on Sunday at the Smoke Rise Country Club, allowing themselves to move up to a tie for eighth with Ohio Wesleyan, 42 strokes back of champion Emory. 
  • Men's Golf 16th in Latest Coaches Poll

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team dropped seven spots to No. 16 in the latest Division III Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll, released on Friday by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The Stormy Petrels were ninth in the previous poll, released in early March, after rocketing up from 18th in the poll released just prior to the spring season.
  • Jacob Arnett Takes Second Straight SAA Men's Golfer of the Week Honors

    Junior Jacob Arnett of the Oglethorpe men's golf team has been named the SAA Men's Golfer of the Week, as voted by the league's coaches. It marks the second consecutive SAA Men's Golfer of the Week award that Arnett has won after he took co-golfer of the week honors last week.
  • Men's Golf Finishes Fourth at Rain-Shortened Camp Lejeune Championship; Arnett Takes Individual Medal

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team finished fifth over the weekend at the rain-shortened Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate Golf Championship, posting a 12-over-par 580 over two rounds at Paradise Point in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Sunday's final round was canceled due to wet course conditions from overnight rain, locking in the scores over the previous two rounds as the official scores for the tournament.
  • Men's Golf Finishes 15th at Jekyll Island Collegiate

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team finished 15th at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational this weekend, posting a 31-over-par 895 over 54 holes on the Pine Lakes course at Jekyll Island Golf Club. The Stormy Petrels shot a 12-over 300 on Sunday, staying in the same spot on the leaderboard that they held after Saturday's second round. They finished 42 strokes behind champions Methodist, who posted an impressive 11-under 853 for the tournament to win by 11 strokes over their nearest competitor.
  • Men's Golf Gets Set to Host 19th Annual Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational

    The Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational began in March of 2001 with three teams - Oglethorpe, Augsburg and Williams - gathered on the island for the first collegiate invitational. Nineteen years later, 30 men’s teams and 24 women’s teams will gather in March of 2018 with over 300 players, including individuals.
  • Men's Golf Jumps Nine Spots in Latest Coaches Poll

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team jumped all the way to No. 9 in the latest Division III Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll on Friday, released by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The Stormy Petrels sat in the No. 18 spot for the first poll release of the spring season on Feb. 16.
  • Men's Golf Takes Callaway Gardens Collegiate to Get Spring Season Started with a Bang

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team got their spring season off to an outstanding start this week at the Callaway Gardens Collegiate Invitational in Pine Mountain, earning a 5-stroke victory at the Callaway Gardens Mountain View course. The Stormy Petrels finished Monday at 3-under-par 285 for the day, putting themselves five strokes ahead of second-place Methodist headed into Tuesday's final round. The Petrels got outstanding performances from a bunch of competitors on Monday, as all four golfers who counted on the Oglethorpe scorecard put up rounds of 73 or below. That round held up, as it turned out, with bad weather forcing the cancellation of the second and final round on Tuesday. That meant that the tournament rested entirely on Monday's 18-hole round.

  • Men's Golf Finishes Fall Season at No. 18 in Coaches Poll

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team dropped two spots to No. 18 in the final Division III Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll of the fall season, selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The Stormy Petrels fell from the No. 16 spot in the Oct. 20 poll and from a high of 11th in the preseason poll.
  • Men's Golf Ends Fall Season on Winning Note, Takes Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational Title

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team collected their second trophy of the fall season in their final tournament before the winter break this week, completing their victory at the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational in Rome with a 7-over-par 295 Tuesday to hold off the hard-charging North Carolina Wesleyan Battling Bishops to take the 54-hole tournament by eight strokes at 2-over 866.

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team fell three spots to No. 16 in the latest Division III Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll, released Friday by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The Stormy Petrels were in the No. 13 spot in the Sept. 29 poll and were 11th in the preseason poll.
  • Men's Golf Finishes 10th at Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team fired a 9-over-par 293 on Tuesday at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort's Raven Golf Club, allowing them to move into the top 10 on the final day at the Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational in Miramar Beach, Florida. The Stormy Petrels finished the three-day, 54-hole event with a 28-over 880 to put themselves 23 strokes back of champion St. Thomas (Minnesota). 
  • Men's Golf Finishes Tied for Fifth at Rain-Soaked Oglethorpe-Royal Lakes Fall Invitational

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team moved nine spots up the leaderboard in the final round of the Oglethorpe-Royal Lakes Fall Invitational, which was completed Sunday at a rainy Royal Lakes Golf and Country Club in Flowery Branch, and finished the 36-hole tournament tied for fifth at 14-over-par 590 to come in 11 strokes back of champions Greensboro. The Stormy Petrels posted a 1-over 289 over the final round and finished deadlocked with Birmingham-Southern, who fired a 4-over 292 for the final round.

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team came in at No. 13 in the latest Division III Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll, released Friday afternoon by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The Stormy Petrels dropped a couple spots from the No. 11 spot they head in the preseason poll.
  • Men's Golf Finishes 12th at Tournament Town Championship Preview after Final Round 301

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team completed their two-day stay in Greensboro, North Carolina, Monday with their best round of the 54-hole Tournament Town Championship Preview, firing a 13-over-par 301 to finish the tournament in 12th place at 48-over 912, 37 strokes back of champions Texas-Tyler.
  • Men's Golf Shares Victory at SAA Fall Preview

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team picked up their first trophy in over a year Sunday, as they shared top honors with Sewanee at the SAA Fall Preview in Dickson, Tennessee. The Stormy Petrels came back with the low round of the tournament on Sunday afternoon, posting a 3-under-par 285 in the second round to vault from fourth after the morning's opening round into a tie for first with the Tigers. Oglethorpe and Sewanee finished at 3-over 579 for the tournament, a couple strokes ahead of tournament guests Huntingdon. It was their first tournament championship since the 2016 SAA Championship.

    The Oglethorpe men's golf team came in at No. 11 in the Preseason Division III Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll, released Friday by the Golf Coaches Association of America. They earned one of 17 possible first-place votes in the process.
