Southwestern topped the men's lacrosse team in Georgetown, Texas on Sunday afternoon by the score of 11-2. The Pirates tallied three goals in the first, second and fourth quarters and added two in the third period to dominate the contest.
Freshman Jake Godwin continued his scoring ways, notching his fourth goal of the weekend in the second quarter. By that time, however, the Pirates already held a 4-1 advantage that would only swell to 6-1 at the half.
Southwestern stretched the lead all the way to 12-1 before Arness Holsey scored with just 37 seconds left in the game to provide the final margin.
Southwestern won the war of ground balls 40-27 and Oglethorpe committed 33 turnovers to just 16 for the Pirates en route to their first conference defeat. Cooper O'Brien saved 17 of the 29 shot attempts he faced in the contest.
The men are now 1-4 (1-1) on the season and will come home to face Hendrix this Friday on Salamone Field at 3:30 p.m.
