Men's Lacrosse Downs Point, 23-6

The Oglethorpe men's lacrosse team defeated Point, 23-6, Tuesday evening in West Point, Ga.

The team got quality performances from a variety of players, including senior attackman Arness Holsey, junior midfielder Jake Godwin, and a pair of freshmen, attackman Zach Pagan and midfielder Brayden Simpson. Holsey and Godwin buried five goals apiece, while Pagan and Simpson scored four each. Pagan scored his four on just five shots, while Godwin netted his five on seven shots, and Holsey scored five on 10 shots. Pagan finished the game with eight total points after passing out four assists, as well.

Senior goalie Cooper O'Brien played well for the Stormy Petrels, allowing six goals on 17 total shots on goal. He stopped 11 Skyhawks shots on the evening.

As Point does not play a majority of their games against four-year varsity squads, they do not count toward the Petrels' NCAA record. The Petrels will get back to action at home Saturday night against Lyndon State. The game is scheduled to get started at 8 p.m. from Oglethorpe Track and Field.
