The men's soccer team notched their first SCAC victory of the season on Sunday afternoon by topping the Austin College Kangaroos on Salamone Field, 3-0.
The Petrels started the scoring in the 21st minute when some hard work from E.J. Ovie-Ogodo left Aaron Walker a shot he fired past the "Roos keeper for the early lead. The Petrels struck again early in the second half when a run from Russell Thompson yielded Harrison McConnell room to shoot from 25 yards out. The keeper misplayed the blast and Oglethorpe earned some separation with the goal. Oglethorpe capped the scoring in the 84th minute when Thompson recorded a goal of his own off a nice feed from Ricardo Morgan.
Oglethorpe outshot the 'Roos 12-8 and the Petrels placed an impressive 9 of the shots on goal.
With the result Oglethorpe is now 5-3-1 on the season and will travel to face Sewanee this Sunday night at 3:00 p.m.
