The men's soccer team rallied to beat Rhodes on Salamone Field on Sunday afternoon, 3-2. Oglethorpe overcame a 2-0 halftime deficet and scored 3 second half goals, including two in the final 12 minutes, to earn the win.
The Petrels were celebrating senior day though the team's lone senior, Evan Britton, was unable to play due to a high ankle sprain.
Oglethorpe fell behind 2-0 but got a goal in the 60th minute from Nick Williamson to cut the lead in half. Then, in the 78th minute, Mark Lavery fed E.J. Ovie-Ogodo for the equalizer. With only two minutes remaining in the contest, Lavery again created for a teammate and found Steven Bott alone in the box who crushed it home for the game winner.
Oglethorpe outshot the Lynx 18-13 and earned 10 corners to just one for Rhodes. With the result the Petrels are now 6-7-1 on the season and will travel to Texas to face Southwestern this Friday.
