The men's soccer team lost to Southwestern in overtime in Georgetown, Texas on Friday night, 2-1.
The contest was scoreless heading into halftime before the Pirates drew first blood with a strike by Matthrew Nickell in the 51st minute. Oglethorpe quickly leveled the contest, however, as freshman Nick Williamson found the back of the net in the 57th minute for the equalizer. The game remained tied as regulation expired but the Pirates managed to strike the game-winner just 50 seconds into the first overtime period to grab the win.
With the result the Petrels are now 6-8-1 on the season and will face high-powered Trinity on Sunday at 2pm.
