    The Oglethorpe men's soccer team, ranked 12th in the United Soccer Coaches poll coming into the week, faced off against the visiting Lynchburg Hornets, ranked 23rd in the D3soccer.com poll, Sunday afternoon at the Oglethorpe Track and Field, but it was the visiting Hornets who picked up a second-half goal en route to a 1-0 victory. The result dropped the Stormy Petrels to 4-2 on the season.

    The Oglethorpe men's soccer team fell 2-0 to NAIA opponent Truett McConnell in their home opener Wednesday evening at the Oglethorpe Track and Field, dropping to 4-1 on the young season.
  • Men's Soccer Ranked 12th in Latest United Soccer Coaches Poll

    The Oglethorpe men's soccer team came in at No. 12 in the United Soccer Coaches Division III national poll this week, released Tuesday by the national organization of collegiate soccer coaches. In addition, Oglethorpe also came in at No. 2 in the South Atlantic regional poll conducted by the same organization.
  • Men's Soccer Sweeps SAA Player of the Week Honors

    The Oglethorpe men's soccer team saw a pair of members earn SAA Player of the Week honors Monday, as senior goalkeeper Luke Whelan earned the SAA Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award and junior midfielder Ryan Marcano the SAA Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award. Both players performed exceptionally well in the Stormy Petrels' weekend sweep at the Seahawk Classic in St. Mary's City, Maryland. Oglethorpe defeated host St. Mary's 2-0 and knocked off Salisbury 1-0 in the weekend's two games.

    The Oglethorpe men's soccer team continued their unbeaten run to start the season Sunday afternoon in St. Mary's City, Maryland, as they defeated the Salisbury Sea Gulls 1-0 to improve to 4-0 on the year. The Stormy Petrels got an early goal from junior midfielder Ryan Marcano and made it stand up over the final 83 minutes of the game en route to the victory. The win gave Oglethorpe their first 4-0 start to a men's soccer season in their Division III era, and marked the first time the team has gone undefeated through their first four games since 2010, when they started 3-0-1.

    The Oglethorpe men's soccer team completed a sweep of their games at Emory's Sonny Carter Invitational, routing North Carolina Wesleyan 4-1 Saturday afternoon at the Woodruff PE Center. It marked the first time the Stormy Petrels had swept their games at the highly competitive Labor Day weekend event since 2012.
  • Men's Soccer Uses Late Marshall Goal to Cap Second Half Comeback over Pacific Lutheran in Season Opener

    The Oglethorpe men's soccer team scored twice in the second half Friday night, including an 88th minute goal from reigning SAA Offensive Player of the Year Topher Marshall, and used those two tallies to erase a 1-0 deficit against Pacific Lutheran in the season opener for both teams at the Sonny Carter Invitational across town at Emory University's Woodruff PE Center.

    The Oglethorpe men's soccer team returns this weekend as they look to defend their consecutive SAA regular season titles and take another shot at winning the conference tournament and earning their second-ever bid to the NCAA Championships. The Stormy Petrels come off a season in which they went undefeated (6-0-1) in SAA play, and have accrued an overall record of 17-9-6 over the past two seasons, including an 11-1-2 mark during that time in conference play.
