Men's Soccer Set to Compete in First NCAA Tournament since 2011

The Oglethorpe men's soccer team is set to kick off their first NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship contest since 2011 when they face off against North Carolina Wesleyan at 11 a.m. Saturday from Alston Parker Watt Field in Lexington, Virginia.

The Stormy Petrels sit at 16-2-1 on the year after wrapping up the second SAA championship and third overall conference title in their history with a 2-1 win over Centre on Sunday. This will be their second matchup with North Carolina Wesleyan on the season, as Oglethorpe defeated the Battling Bishops 4-1 at Emory's Sonny Carter Invitational on Sept. 2. North Carolina Wesleyan will enter the matchup at 15-5 on the year, having won the USA South conference championship with a 1-0 win over Maryville (Tennesee) on Saturday.

It'll be the Petrels' first NCAA tournament contest since facing Texas-Tyler on the road in 2011, and only their second ever.

The winner of the matchup between the Stormy Petrels and the Battling Bishops will take on the winner of Saturday's other first-round game between Washington & Lee and Mary Washington on Sunday at 1 p.m.
