Ryan grew up in Alpharetta, Ga., and went to high school at The Marist School.  In 2004, he attended Clemson University, where he played for the Tigers for two years, including the 2005 Final Four squad.  In 2006, he transferred to the University of Central Florida and spent three years garnering many accolades including All-Conference, All-Region, All-Academic and Team MVP.  In the school year of 2007-08, he was also named UCF Scholar Athlete of the Year for his achievements on the field and in the classroom.  Ryan graduated in 2009 with a bachelor of arts in Spanish.

In 2009, Ryan continued his playing career by signing with Brujas FC in the Costa Rica first division, who eventually became champions the first season he joined.  The next year, Ryan moved on to play for Sevilla FC de Puerto Rico.  He was the team captain of the Puerto Rico Soccer League regular season champions.  Ryan has also played in various other countries around the world including England, Sweden, Vietnam and Spain.
 

As of 2012, Ryan has just begun his coaching career.  He spent the 2012 fall college season as a volunteer assistant coach at UCF as well an assistant coach/college liaison for FC America; a local youth club in Orlando.  Along with being the head assistant at Oglethorpe, Ryan is also a coach at Atlanta Fire United SC.
