Men Sweep Past Principia for 3rd Straight Win

The men's tennis team moved back to the .500 mark on the season after claiming their third straight victory on Downing Howell Courts Saturday morning. The Petrels swept past Principia 9-0 by surviving some tense doubles matches before enjoying an easier go of it in the singles play.

Each of Oglethorpe's three doubles duos had to buckle down in their matches to earn the critical point. The No. 1 combo of Ethan Motz and Rajiv Dinakaran outlasted their Principia opponents 8-6, the same score by which the No. 2 team of Benjamin Hirsch and Kirk Zhao claimed victory. Craig Borne and Andre Cedric teamed up to win 8-4 at No. 3 and give Oglethorpe a huge 3-0 lead heading into the singles matches.

With the exception of Ethan Motz's three-set win at No. 1, the Petrels swept through singles play in straight sets. Complete match results included below.

The men are now 5-5 on the season and will continue this difficult portion of the schedule where they play six matches in five days down in Florida during their annual spring break trip. First up: Grinell College on Sunday afternoon.
