  • Nine Stormy Petrels Named to SAA Spring All-Sportsmanship Teams

    The SAA released their Spring All-Sportsmanship Teams Tuesday, recognizing student-athletes who displayed outstanding sportsmanship over the course of their seasons. The nine Stormy Petrels join a total of 79 student-athletes among the conference's eight full-time members across its 10 sponsored spring sports.
  • Men's Tennis Places Three Performers on All-SAA Teams

    The Oglethorpe men's tennis team earned three spots on All-SAA teams this week, as voted by the league's coaches. Junior Rhys Richardson earned All-SAA Second Team accolades, while junior Matthew Magee and sophomore Michael Santaloci both took home All-SAA Honorable Mention.
  • Oglethorpe Athletics Closes 2016-17 Season with Petey Awards Ceremony

    The Oglethorpe athletic department rounded out the season with the Fifth Annual Petey Awards on Sunday, hosted at the Turner Lynch Campus Center on Oglethorpe's campus. The event, which is produced by the Oglethorpe Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), allowed Oglethorpe student-athletes to honor the best and brightest performances of the year while reflecting on the 2016-17 athletic year as a whole.
  • Men's Tennis Sees Season Come to Close in Hard-Fought, 5-4 SAA Tournament Battle with Birmingham-Southern

    The No. 5 seed Oglethorpe men's tennis team found themselves in a tough matchup with No. 4 seed Birmingham-Southern Friday morning in the first round of the SAA Tournament at Burns Park Tennis Center in North Little Rock, Arkansas. It was a back-and-forth battle, but the Panthers emerged with a 5-4 victory in the end, drawing the Stormy Petrels' season to a close with a 7-12 overall record.
  • Spring Teams Compete for SAA Championships This Weekend

    This weekend marks the first of three that will feature SAA championship competition, and a number of Stormy Petrel teams will be competing Friday through Sunday for conference bragging rights, including golf, women's lacrosse, tennis, and track and field.
  • Oglethorpe to Co-Host 2022 NCAA Division III Tennis and Men's Golf Championships

    The NCAA selected Oglethorpe University to co-host two of the organization’s Division III national championship events Tuesday. The university will host the 2022 NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championship and the 2022 NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships in conjunction with the Central Florida Sports Commission (CFSC).
  • Men's Tennis Falls 7-2 to Birmingham-Southern in Final Regular Season Match

    The Oglethorpe men's tennis team found themselves in a competitive match Saturday morning against the regionally-ranked Birmingham-Southern Panthers, which featured three 3-set contests. However, the Panthers were able to come away with a 7-2 victory in the end, dropping the Stormy Petrels to 7-12 on the season overall and 3-4 in SAA play. That conference mark assured Oglethorpe of finishing in fifth place in the SAA.
  • Men's Tennis Falls to Regionally Ranked Millsaps, 8-1

    The Oglethorpe men's tennis team faced a tough matchup Friday morning at the Downing Howell Courts, as they fell to the regionally-ranked Millsaps Majors 8-1. The Stormy Petrels entered the matchup ranked 19th in the Atlantic South, but Millsaps came in with a No. 11 regional ranking, and took control of the proceedings in doubles. The result dropped the Petrels to 7-11 on the season overall, 3-3 in SAA play.
  • Men's Tennis Defeats Hendrix, 8-1, in Conference Matchup

    The Oglethorpe men's tennis team played very well Sunday morning in Conway, Arkansas, and earned an 8-1 victory over the homestanding Hendrix Warriors as a result. The Stormy Petrels got outstanding performances up and down the lineup to secure the victory, improving the team to 7-10 on the season overall and 3-2 in SAA play.
  • Men's Tennis Falls to Regionally Ranked Rhodes, 7-2

    The Oglethorpe men's tennis team faced a tough test Saturday against a regionally ranked Rhodes Lynx team in Memphis, Tennessee. Though the Stormy Petrels fought hard, Rhodes prevailed, 7-2, to drop the Petrels to 6-10 overall and 2-2 in SAA play.
  • Men's Tennis Earns Big 6-3 Road Win over Centre

    The Oglethorpe men's tennis team traveled to Danville, Kentucky, Sunday to play Centre in their third SAA match of the season. Oglethorpe fought hard, eventually pulling out a well-earned 6-3 victory. The win improved the Stormy Petrels to 6-9 on the season overall and 2-1 in conference play.
  • Men's Tennis Falls on Road to No. 18 Sewanee
    April 01, 2017
    The Oglethorpe men's tennis team faced a tough matchup Saturday in Sewanee, Tennessee, and fell to the No. 18 Sewanee Tigers 8-1 as they got back into SAA play. The result dropped the Stormy Petrels to 5-9 on the season overall and 1-1 in SAA play.
  • Men's Tennis Delivers Clean Sweep of Brooklyn, 9-0

    The Oglethorpe men's tennis team delivered a very solid performance Friday afternoon, defeating the visiting Brooklyn Bulldogs 9-0 at the Downing Howell Courts in their final scheduled non-conference match of the campaign. The Stormy Petrels improved to 5-8 on the season overall with the win, and have now won two matches in a row.
  • Oglethorpe Athletics to Celebrate Start of Division III Week with Cookout on Sunday, April 2

    The Oglethorpe athletic department will celebrate the start of NCAA Division III Week on Sunday, April 2, with a cookout that will be ongoing during the baseball game against Centre and the men's lacrosse game against Hendrix that afternoon. The cookout will take place from noon to 3 p.m., and will be held at Petey's Party Pavilion, the landing overlooking right field at Anderson Field.
  • Men's Tennis Notches 6-3 Victory at Berry in Conference Opener

    The Oglethorpe men's tennis team got their SAA season off to a very good start Sunday morning in Mount Berry, where they defeated in-state rival Berry 6-3. The Stormy Petrels came back from being down 2-1 after the doubles competition, and were down a set in four of the six singles matches. They fought back, though, taking three of those matches, as well as the remaining two, for the overall victory. The win improved the Petrels to 4-8 on the season overall, as well as 1-0 in SAA play.
  • Men's Tennis Falls to No. 15 Amherst in Neutral Site Match

    The Oglethorpe men's tennis team fell 9-0 Saturday morning in a tough matchup against No. 15 Amherst at Emory's Woodruff Physical Education Center. The Stormy Petrels found themselves in tough matches across the board against Amherst. They took a couple of them to a third-set supertiebreak, but couldn't quite get over the hump in any of them. The result dropped the Petrels to 3-8 on the season.
  • Regionally-Ranked Texas-Dallas Drops Men's Tennis at Frigid Howell Courts

    The Oglethorpe men's tennis team faced a tough matchup Sunday afternoon at the Downing Howell Courts, as they took on a regionally-ranked Texas-Dallas team on a 40-degree afternoon in Atlanta and lost 6-3. The result dropped the Stormy Petrels to 3-7 on the season.
  • Men's Tennis Falls in Pair of Spring Break Contests to Ursinus and Wheaton

    The Oglethorpe men's tennis team had a tough day on their spring trip to central Florida Tuesday, falling 6-3 in a morning match to Ursinus in Kissimmee before falling in a difficult evening match to Wheaton (Illinois), 7-2, in Orlando. The results dropped the Stormy Petrels to 3-6 on the season.
  • Men's Tennis Sweeps Day 2 of Spring Break Trip, Defeats Clark University and St. John's

    The Oglethorpe men's tennis team enjoyed an outstanding day on Monday in central Florida, sweeping their two matches as part of their spring break trip. They defeated Clark University at the USTA National Campus in Orlando in the morning, 8-1, before dispatching St. John's (Minnesota) in a tight 5-4 contest Monday evening at the Beerman Family Tennis Center in Lakeland. The results improved the Stormy Petrels to 3-4 on the season.
  • Men's Tennis Drops First Match of Spring Break to No. 37 Coe

    The Oglethorpe men's tennis team had a tough match Sunday afternoon against No. 37 Coe, falling 8-1 to the Kohawks in their spring break opener at Lake Cane Tennis Center in Orlando, Florida. The loss dropped the Stormy Petrels to 1-4 on the season.
  • Wednesday Tennis Matches at Covenant Postponed
    February 28, 2017
    The Oglethorpe tennis teams were scheduled to play Covenant on Lookout Mountain Wednesday at 3:30 p.m., but those matches have now been postponed due to forecast storms in north Georgia. The women's match will now take place March 15 at 4 p.m. and the men will play the Scots April 4 at 4 p.m. Both matches will still take place on Lookout Mountain in northwest Georgia.
  • Men's Tennis Drops Sunday Dual Match to Division I Citadel

    The Oglethorpe men's tennis team was faced with a tough matchup Sunday morning at the Downing Howell Courts, going up against Division I opponent Citadel. The Stormy Petrels fought hard against the visiting Bulldogs, taking one of the three doubles matches, but fell 8-1 in the end. The result dropped the Petrels to 1-3 on the season and wrapped up a challenging weekend against a regionally-ranked Rose-Hulman side and the Division I Citadel.

    The Oglethorpe men's tennis team took on their former conference foe Rose-Hulman at the Downing Howell Courts on Saturday afternoon, and the visiting Fightin' Engineers took a 2-1 lead after doubles en route to a 6-3 victory over the Stormy Petrels. The result dropped Oglethorpe to 1-2 on the season.
  • Men's Tennis Starts Spring Season with 7-2 Win over Piedmont

    The Oglethorpe men's tennis team got their spring season off to a fantastic start Thursday afternoon at the Downing Howell Courts, as they defeated a solid Piedmont team 7-2 to improve to 1-1 on the season overall. The Stormy Petrels got solid contributions from up and down the lineup on Thursday against the Lions.
  • 2017 Men's Tennis Spring Preview

    The Oglethorpe men’s tennis team will be challenged coming into the 2017 season. They are coming off their best year since entering NCAA Division III play in 1991. They won a share of their first SAA title and finished No. 11 in the Atlantic South. They also peeked into the national rankings at No. 40 and No. 38 at points during the season. C.J. Antonio was Oglethorpe’s first Division III tennis All-American and earned SAA Player of the Year accolades.
  • Oglethorpe SAAC Finishes Successful First Annual Toy Drive for Patients at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta

  • Men's Tennis Ranked in Regional Top 10 after Fall Season

    The Oglethorpe men's tennis team featured prominently in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Atlantic South rankings for the fall season, earning the 10th position in the newly-released pecking order this week. It marks the fourth consecutive year that the Stormy Petrels have been regionally ranked after the fall season.
  • Men's Tennis Drops 6-3 Decision to SCAD Atlanta to Round Out Fall Season

    The Oglethorpe men's tennis team closed out its fall season Saturday morning with a match against the Atlanta campus of the Savannah College of Art and Design. The visiting Bees came away with a 6-3 victory after taking two of the three doubles matches and four of the six contests in singles play.

    The Oglethorpe Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be presenting a variety of activities surrounding Family Weekend here on campus. The events will culminate with a fundraiser at the SAA soccer doubleheader against Sewanee Saturday afternoon beginning at 4:30 p.m. on the Oglethorpe Track and Field.
