The Oglethorpe men's tennis team picked up a resounding victory over Roanoke on a beautiful Saturday morning on the Howell Courts. After sweeping doubles play, the Petrels also swept all six singles matches to secure the 9-0 victory. The win improves the Petrels to 2-1 on the season.

The No. 1 doubles team of senior Judd Motz and junior Richard Johnson picked up a hard-fought 8-6 win. At No. 2 doubles, freshmen Walker Benson and Calvin Schneider breezed to an 8-1 win. The No. 3 doubles tandem of sophomore Dustin Bowie and junior Jacob Bertram also picked up an 8-1 win.
The Petrels also dominated singles play. Bowie won at No. 1, 6-4, 6-2, while Johnson took care of business at No. 2, 6-2, 6-2. At No. 3, Benson won 6-1, 6-0. Junior Michael Santaloci won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4. To round out singles play, sophomore Zoe Raymond and Schneider swept sets at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively.
After the match, head coach Peter Howell commented, "It was good to get a rebound win today. It will serve us well as we get ready for some tough matches down in Florida."
The Petrels leave this afternoon to travel down to Orlando, Florida, for a spring break trip in which they will play six matches in four days against regional and national opponents, starting with Coe Sunday at 4 p.m.
