Men's Tennis Falls 7-2 to Coe to Begin Spring Break in Florida

The Oglethorpe men's tennis team got off to a tough start to their spring break trip, losing to No. 36 Coe, 7-2, Sunday in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The Petrels lost all three doubles matches, putting themselves in a hole from the start.

In singles matches, the Petrels got strong performances from freshman Walker Benson, who won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Freshman Calvin Schneider also played well, winning 4-6, 6-4, 10-8 at No. 6.

After the match, head coach Peter Howell commented, "Our doubles teams struggled today. We are going to have to go back to the drawing board to see if we can find some doubles combinations that work a little better. I thought freshman Walker Benson and Calvin Schneiderr played well. They are developing quickly and are going to really help us as the season progresses. We will look to rebound tomorrow."

The team will have a quick turnaround, as they take on Clark University Monday morning at 8 a.m. in Orlando, Florida, followed by an evening matchup with Emerson  at 6:30 p.m. from nearby Kissimmee.
