Oglethorpe Cross Country Classic Shines

On a gorgeous Saturday morning, thirteen colleges raced over the campus cross country course. Chattahoochee Tech won the men's meet with a score of 48. Covenant College finished second with 77 points, followed by Tennessee Wesleyan with 83.


Oglethorpe did not field a full men's team with runners currently ill. Delonzo Sharp of Chattahoochee Tech took individual honors running the five mile course in 28:50. David Whitson finished first for the Petrels in 19th place with a time of 31:27. He was followed closely by co-captain Robbie Capps, co-captain Phillip Belcher, and freshman Michael Caneega.

The Lady Petrels finished 5th led by junior Donyale Greenwell (5th overall). Completing the scoring were Katy Galli, Tirzah Brown, Khadija Nisar and Dona Kioseff. The women of Clark-Atlanta took first place with 39 points, followed by Covenant with 66 points and Chattahoochee Tech with 71 points. Sarah Birgen of Tennessee Tech won the meet with a time of 19:14.

The teams are idle until the SCAC championships on Saturday, October 29th.
