Men's Cross Country Finishes Fouth at Berry Invitational; Stenn Leads Women in 25th

The Oglethorpe cross country team closed out their regular season Saturday at the Berry Invitational in Mount Berry. The men finished fourth as a team, coming home with an average time of 27 minutes, 40.81 seconds and a total time of 2 hours, 18 minutes and 24.0 seconds. That put them just a tenth of a second total and two-hundredths of a second on average behind third-place Covenant.

The men were led on the day by sophomore Mateo Villa, who finished 13th in 26:59.9 in the eight-kilometer race. The women were led on the day by sophomore Hava Stenn, who finished 25th with a time of 25:06.23 in the six-kilometer race. 

On the men's side, freshman Jacob Hadden finished 15th in 27:04.7; freshman Jackson Reilly came in 37th at 27:55.1; freshman Oz Faal finished in 42nd place, coming in with a time of 28:04.1; sophomores Nick Evans and Jonathan Vernon finished back to back in 48th and 49th place, posting times of 28:20.2 and 28:24.3, respectively; and freshman Bill Lester came in 70th with a time of 29:08.9. Junior Rodrigo Meade, freshman Nicholas Wootton and sophomore Andrew Aycock all finished in the top half of the field, as well.

On the women's side, freshman Reagan Goodwin finished just behind Stenn in 29th after posting a time of 25:26.6. Junior Kara Jones came in 57th in 26:18.5, while freshman Courtney Stuart finished in 28:39.6. 

This concludes the regular season for the Stormy Petrels. They'll now get set to host the SAA Cross Country Championships at Nash Farm Battlefield in Hampton on the morning of Saturday, Oct. 28.
