Men's Cross Country Finishes Fifth at Rhodes College Invitational

The Oglethorpe cross country teams competed at the Rhodes College Invitational in Memphis, Tennessee, Saturday morning. The men's squad finished fifth at the 21-team event, coming in ahead of every Division III team except hosts Rhodes. They finished in a total of 2 hours, 17.38 minutes.

Sophomore Jacob Hadden finished 15th in 26:35.7, while freshman Hayden Guthried came in 29th with a personal-best 27:21.3. Junior Mateo Villa finished 32nd with a time of 27:32.7, while sophomore Bill Lester finished 45th in 27:59.0. Sophomore Alex Araya ran a personal-best 28:09.0 and finished 49th, while junior Nick Evans finished 51st with a time of 28:14.0. Junior Nick Berardi came in 54th in 28:20.3. Freshman Aidan Goldston came home in 55th place with a personal-best 28:22.5.

On the women's side, senior Kara Jones finished 44th with a time of 25:27.4 on the six-kilometer course, while sophomore Reagan Goodwin ran a solid race and finished 58th in 25:57.6.

The Petrels will be back in action on Sept. 29, when they head back to Tennessee for the Sewanee Invitational.
