Savannah LeGate earns second SAA weekly honor of season

Oglethorpe sophomore center Savannah LeGate received another weekly recognition from the SAA league office on Monday, earning the SAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week award for the second time this season and for the second straight week in which the Stormy Petrels were active.

LeGate enjoyed a career day for the Petrels on Friday in Mount Berry, Georgia, tying for her career high in rebounds with 22 while scoring 14 points and swatting a pair of shots. The 22 rebounds also tied a school single-game record already jointly held by LeGate (2017-18 vs. Sewanee) and Kim Mohr (1995-96 vs. Atlanta Christian).

For the season, the Petrel center sits in the league's top five in scoring (15.0 points per game), rebounding (8.0 per game) and blocks (1.5 per game).

She and the rest of the squad get set to welcome Guilford to Dorough Field House Sunday at 2 p.m.
