Sophomore Savannah LeGate of the Oglethorpe women's basketball team was named the SAA Player of the Week by the league office Monday for the third time in 2018-19 and the second time in December. The Stormy Petrel center led the team to victories over Calvin and North Park late in the month.
LeGate averaged 14 points, 13 rebounds and 3.7 blocks per game over the course of the three contests. Her best performance came in the 73-48 win over Calvin on Dec. 21 when she scored 23 points on 11-of-22 from the field and grabbed 16 rebounds. She also came close to a triple double in Saturday's 50-47 victory over North Park, scoring 13 points, grabbing 17 boards, and recording eight blocks.
For the season, LeGate sits second in the SAA in rebounds (9.3) and blocks per game (2.2). She's also fourth in the league in scoring with 14.1 points per game.
She and the rest of the Petrels re-enter conference play on Friday when they travel to Alabama to take on Birmingham-Southern at 7 p.m. Eastern. They'll continue to Jackson, Mississippi, on Sunday to take on Millsaps at 2 p.m.
