The Oglethorpe women's golf team saw three members earn recognition as Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars on Tuesday, as junior Hailey Willman joined freshmen Angel Sanchez and Emma Meadows in receiving the honor. The Stormy Petrel women's golf program has now seen 12 players earn the honor in its history.
The three Oglethorpe golfers joined a total of 1,011 women's collegiate golfers recognized with the prestigious honor across all levels. The criteria for the WGCA All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in college athletics, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 required.
It marked the second time the program has earned postseason awards from the WGCA this summer, as Sanchez took home a spot on the All-Great Lakes Region team back in May. All three Petrels earned spots on the SAA Academic Honor Roll, while Sanchez garnered All-SAA First Team honors.
The Petrels will be back in action on Sept. 15, when they travel to Montgomery, Alabama, for the Montgomery Country Club Intercollegiate.
