Women's Lacrosse Falls to Augustana (Ill.)

It was a tough afternoon for the Oglethorpe women's lacrosse team as they fell to Augustana (Ill.), 21-1, on Sunday at the Oglethorpe Track and Field.

The visiting Vikings dominated from the outset and were ahead 15-0 at halftime. The Stormy Petrels got a goal back in the second half when sophomore Sydney Sparks tallied for the home side to make the score 17-1. However, Augustana went on to outscore the Petrels 6-1 in the second half, as well.

The Petrels were outshot 39-3, including 30-3 on goal, and were only 3-for-11 on clear attempts. The turnover tally was 15-9 in favor of Augustana, draw controls were 17-6, and ground balls were 15-9.

The Petrels fall to 0-6 on the season, but will get back in action against regional opponent LaGrange on Thursday night. The game will take place in LaGrange, Ga., and will begin at 7 p.m.
