Women's soccer freshman goalkeeper Bailey Evans was named SAA Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday for her work the week of Oct. 15-21.
Evans held back a siege on the Oglethorpe goal this weekend in road games against Millsaps and Birmingham Southern. On Friday against Millsaps, she stopped eight of nine shots on goal, but lost 1-0. On Sunday against Birmingham Southern, she stopped 11 of 12 shots on goal, but again lost 1-0. Overall for the weekend, she saved 19 of 21 shots on goal in the two games. Despite only starting 10 of the Lady Petrels' 15 games this season, Evans finds herself at fourth place in the SAA in total saves, having tallied 56 of them.
Evans will be in action again this week as the Lady Petrels travel to Chattanooga, Tenn., to take on Tennessee Temple tonight, then go to Mount Berry, Ga., to take on Berry in their SAA finale on Saturday.
