    Oglethorpe Athletics to Celebrate Start of Division III Week with Cookout on Sunday, April 2 The Oglethorpe athletic department will celebrate the start of NCAA Division III Week on Sunday, April 2, with a cookout that will be ongoing during the baseball game against Centre and the men's lacrosse game against Hendrix that afternoon. The cookout will take place from noon to 3 p.m., and will be held at Petey's Party Pavilion, the landing overlooking right field at Anderson Field.

    Oglethorpe Celebrates National Girls and Women in Sports Day The Oglethorpe athletic department and the Oglethorpe Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) celebrated National Girls and Women in Sports Day Sunday at the Schmidt Recreation Center on Oglethorpe's campus. Inclement weather moved the event inside from its originally scheduled location at the Oglethorpe Track and Field, but it didn't dampen the mood of any of the participants.

    National Girls and Women in Sports Day to Be Held Feb. 12 at Oglethorpe Track and Field The Oglethorpe athletic department and the Oglethorpe Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Oglethorpe Track and Field starting at 11:30 a.m. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved inside to the Schmidt Recreation Center.

    Five Stormy Petrels Named to SAA Fall All-Sportsmanship Teams The SAA released their 2016 Fall All-Sportsmanship Teams Tuesday, recognizing student-athletes who displayed outstanding sportsmanship over the course of their seasons. The five Stormy Petrels selected join a total of 55 student-athletes among the conference's eight full-time and four affiliate members across its seven sponsored fall sports.

    Kayla Trice Named Women's Soccer All-SAA Honorable Mention Freshman forward Kayla Trice of the Oglethorpe women's soccer team was voted All-SAA Honorable Mention by the league's coaches Tuesday, marking her first All-SAA accolade in her first season on the squad. Trice is the first freshman to make the women's soccer All-SAA team since senior teammate Beatrice Menjor earned All-SAA Honorable Mention as a forward in 2013.

    Women's Soccer Rounds Out Regular Season with Road Defeat at Berry The Oglethorpe women's soccer team suffered a tough afternoon Saturday in Mount Berry, Georgia, falling to the homestanding Berry Vikings, 7-0, in their final game of the regular season. The loss meant that the Stormy Petrels will finish the regular season 2-11 overall and 1-6 in SAA play. Oglethorpe holds the No. 7 seed headed into the SAA playoffs, beginning next weekend.

    Women's Soccer Falls to Brenau in Final Home Game of Regular Season The Oglethorpe women's soccer team came back from a first-half deficit Wednesday night against the visiting Brenau Golden Tigers at the Oglethorpe Track and Field, but it was Brenau scoring the game-winner midway through the second half to secure a 2-1 victory over the Stormy Petrels. The loss dropped the home side to 2-10 on the season.

    Women's Soccer Uses Pair of Trice Goals to Nab First SAA Win of Season The Oglethorpe women's soccer team got a pair of goals from freshman forward Kayla Trice in the first half on Sunday and held on through the second half for a 2-1 victory over Millsaps in Jackson, Mississippi. It marked the first SAA victory of the season for the Stormy Petrels and their first since a 3-0 win at Millsaps on Oct. 19, 2014. The win improved the team to 2-9 on the season overall and 1-5 in conference play.

    Birmingham-Southern Uses Pair of Second-Half Goals to Pull Away from Women's Soccer, 3-0 The Oglethorpe women's soccer team hung tough for awhile against Birmingham-Southern Friday evening in Birmingham, Alabama, but the homestanding Panthers scored a pair of goals after halftime en route to a 3-0 win over the Stormy Petrels. With the loss, Oglethorpe fell to 1-9 on the season overall and 0-5 in SAA play.

The defeat dropped the Petrels to 1-8 on the season overall and 0-4 in SAA play.

    Women's Soccer Falls to Rhodes in SAA Play The Oglethorpe women's soccer team suffered a tough afternoon in the rain at the Oglethorpe Track and Field on Friday, as the visiting Rhodes Lynx came in and defeated the Stormy Petrels 7-0. Rhodes scored three in the first half and four in the second to give the game its final tally. The result dropped the Petrels to 1-7 overall and 0-3 in SAA play.

    Sewanee Uses Last-Second Goal to Defeat Women's Soccer, 3-2 The Oglethorpe women's soccer team gave a valiant effort Saturday afternoon at the Oglethorpe Track and Field, remaining tied with Sewanee into the final seconds of the SAA contest between the two teams. However, the visiting Tigers scored the game-winning goal with just 17 seconds remaining, propelling themselves to a 3-2 win. The loss drops the Stormy Petrels to 1-6 on the season overall and 0-2 in SAA play.

The events will culminate with a fundraiser at the SAA soccer doubleheader against Sewanee Saturday afternoon beginning at 4:30 p.m. on the Oglethorpe Track and Field.

    Women's Soccer Drops Conference Opener at No. 15 Centre The Oglethorpe women's soccer team had a tough matchup Saturday afternoon in their SAA opener, as they went up against the No. 15 Centre Colonels in Danville, Kentucky. The Colonels, who qualified for the Division III national semifinals in 2015, proved too much for the Stormy Petrels, as they came away with a 4-0 win. The loss dropped the Petrels to 1-5 on the season overall and 0-1 in SAA play.

    Women's Soccer Blanks Judson 2-0 for First Win of Season The Oglethorpe women's soccer team picked up its first victory of the season Tuesday evening in Marion, Alabama, shutting out the homestanding Judson Eagles 2-0 on a pair of first-half goals from sophomore forward Precious Buddington and junior midfielder Celina Kassam. The victory improved the Stormy Petrels to 1-4 on the season headed into SAA play.

    Second Half Goal Lifts Visiting Bryan over Women's Soccer, 2-1 The Oglethorpe women's soccer team led early in their non-conference tilt with Bryan Wednesday evening at Salamone Field, but the visiting Lions came back with a pair of goals, one on each side of halftime, to turn the game around and defeat the Stormy Petrels 2-1. The loss dropped Oglethorpe to 0-4 on the season.

    Brevard Pulls Away from Women's Soccer in Second Half The Oglethorpe women's soccer team played their second consecutive game against a Division II team Tuesday afternoon, as they took on Brevard at a neutral site in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Just like on Saturday against USC Aiken, the Stormy Petrels held their own over the first half, trailing the Tornados just 1-0 at halftime. As the Petrels tired, though, Brevard pulled away in the second half for a 4-0 win, dropping the Petrels to 0-3 on the season.

The loss dropped the Stormy Petrels to 0-2 on the young season.

    Women's Soccer Falls 3-1 to Agnes Scott in Season Opener The Oglethorpe women's soccer team saw their season not get off to the kind of start they would like Thursday afternoon, as they allowed a goal to the homestanding Agnes Scott Scotties 40 seconds into the game and went on to lose 3-1 in Decatur, Georgia. However, a solid stretch to end the game, which included a goal, gave the 0-1 Stormy Petrels some momentum as they push forward towards Saturday's home opener.

    2016 Women's Soccer Season Preview The Oglethorpe women's soccer team will make their return to the field this week, and they'll be sporting a great deal of new faces, including on the coaching staff. Head Coach Wes Anania will be marking his first year with the Stormy Petrels and he'll have a young squad consisting of nine freshmen and five sophomores. That group will join a solid group of core returners to form a team which should be improved from the 2015 squad.

    Petey the Petrel Helps Gwinnett Braves Mascot Chopper Celebrate Birthday at Coolray Field Petey the Petrel, the beloved mascot of the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels, made an appearance at Gwinnett County's Coolray Field on Saturday night. Petey and a wide variety of other mascots from the Atlanta area were there to help celebrate Chopper's birthday during that evening's Gwinnett Braves game against the Rochester Red Wings. Chopper is the groundhog mascot of the Gwinnett Braves, the Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves.
