After Strong ITAs, Francis Receives Regional Ranking

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has released their individual player rankings following the fall season and Oglethorpe sophomore Caffrey Francis is ranked No. 23 in the Atlantic South Region.

Francis showed well at the Fall ITA event to earn her regional ranking. Held on the campus of Emory University, Francis claimed her opening round match over Centre's Lauren Dever, 1-6, 6-2, 6-4. She then advanced in another three-setter by topping Sewanee's Julia Wood, 1-6, 7-6 (3), 6-3 before running out of gas against Emory's Lauren Pinsky, 6-0, 3-6, 7-5.  Pinsky is ranked as the No. 17 player in the region.

"We're excited for Caffrey," said head women's tennis coach Peter Howell. "She had an outstanding freshman season and could be in store for an even better sophomore campaign."

Francis and her Stormy Petrel teammates will begin the spring season on Febraury 18 when they square off with Methodist on Downing Howell Courts at 3:00 p.m.
