Women's Tennis Ends Spring Break Trip with 8-1 Loss to Hamilton

The Oglethorpe women's tennis team finished their spring break trip to Orlando Wednesday with an 8-1 loss to Hamilton.

Hamilton swept all three doubles matches, giving their squad a 3-0 lead.

Then, going into the singles matches, Hamilton won the first two at the Nos. 4 and 2 slots, clinching the victory on the day, 5-0.

After Hamilton clinched the dual match, Katherine Walker took the No. 1 singles match for Oglethorpe, winning in three sets. She lost the first set 0-6, but came back to take the second 7-6. Then, with the dual match already decided, the third set of the match was contested as a super-tiebreak. Walker won 11-9 to take the match, her third victory out of the No. 1 slot in the last two days.

The loss drops the Lady Petrels to 2-9 on the season, and they finish their spring break trip with a record of 1-4. They will next be in action when they travel to Sewanee, Tenn., to take on SAA-rival Sewanee next Friday at 3 p.m.
