    Women's Tennis Opens Season with Emphatic Sweep of Wesleyan The Oglethorpe women's tennis team got their season off to an outstanding start on Wednesday evening with a clean sweep of the homestanding Wesleyan Wolves, going on the road to defeat them 9-0 in Macon. The Stormy Petrels did not lose a set and only dropped 13 total games over the course of the entire dual match.

    2017 Women's Tennis Spring Preview The Oglethorpe women’s tennis team looks to be very solid this year, as they come off their best year ever in 2016. They accumulated a 10-9 record and a fifth-place finish in the SAA. They also posted a year-end regional ranking of No. 13 in the Atlantic South – a first for the women's tennis program in the Division III era.

    Oglethorpe Celebrates National Girls and Women in Sports Day The Oglethorpe athletic department and the Oglethorpe Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) celebrated National Girls and Women in Sports Day Sunday at the Schmidt Recreation Center on Oglethorpe's campus. Inclement weather moved the event inside from its originally scheduled location at the Oglethorpe Track and Field, but it didn't dampen the mood of any of the participants.

    National Girls and Women in Sports Day to Be Held Feb. 12 at Oglethorpe Track and Field The Oglethorpe athletic department and the Oglethorpe Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Oglethorpe Track and Field starting at 11:30 a.m. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved inside to the Schmidt Recreation Center.

    Oglethorpe SAAC Finishes Successful First Annual Toy Drive for Patients at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta The Oglethorpe Student-Athlete Advisory Committtee (SAAC) wound up their First Annual Toy Drive last week and delivered the toys received to the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite Hospital on Friday.

    Women's Tennis Well-Represented in Atlantic South Fall Rankings The Oglethorpe women's tennis team found themselves well-represented in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) regional rankings, released this week. The Stormy Petrels found themselves in the No. 13 spot in the Atlantic South team rankings after the fall season, and the doubles tandem of junior Caroline Johnson and freshman Hannah Datillo earned the No. 8 spot in the women's doubles regional rankings.

    Women's Tennis Match against Oxford Postponed The Oglethorpe women's tennis match against Oxford Friday afternoon on the Downing Howell Courts was postponed due to rain in the Atlanta area and likely will not be completed until the spring season. The Stormy Petrels were ahead in all three doubles matches at the time of the suspension in play.

    Oglethorpe SAAC to Raise Money to Fight Pediatric Cancer on Family Weekend The Oglethorpe Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be presenting a variety of activities surrounding Family Weekend here on campus. The events will culminate with a fundraiser at the SAA soccer doubleheader against Sewanee Saturday afternoon beginning at 4:30 p.m. on the Oglethorpe Track and Field.

    Women's Tennis Completes ITA Regionals with Solid Day 2 The Oglethorpe women's tennis team had several players competing on Day 2 of the USTA/ITA South Regional Championships at Emory's campus in Atlanta. The day saw senior Ingrid Wilcox advance to the final of the secondary singles draw and the doubles tandem of junior Caroline Johnson and freshman Hannah Datillo win a match to advance to the semifinals of the main doubles draw.

    Women's Tennis Finishes as Co-Champions of John McWilliams Invitational at Montgomery's Lagoon Park The Oglethorpe women's tennis team had a very successful weekend at the John McWilliams Invitational at Lagoon Park in Montgomery, Alabama, sharing the team title with Division II Christian Brothers and winning the first team title of any kind in the program's Division III history.

    2016 Women's Tennis Fall Preview The 2016-17 Oglethorpe women's tennis team comes off its best year since coming to NCAA Division III in 1991. The 2015-16 team finished regionally ranked at No. 13 in the Atlantic South, and the 2016-17 team looks to be even stronger. The Stormy Petrels have added two new freshmen who will join the nucleus to give the program its deepest-ever team. The Petrels will feature one senior, two juniors, four sophomores and three freshmen.

    Petey the Petrel Helps Gwinnett Braves Mascot Chopper Celebrate Birthday at Coolray Field Petey the Petrel, the beloved mascot of the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels, made an appearance at Gwinnett County's Coolray Field on Saturday night. Petey and a wide variety of other mascots from the Atlanta area were there to help celebrate Chopper's birthday during that evening's Gwinnett Braves game against the Rochester Red Wings. Chopper is the groundhog mascot of the Gwinnett Braves, the Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves.
