Records Continue to Fall at Emory Track Classic

The Oglethorpe men's and women's track teams continued their record breaking ways yesterday at  the Emory Classic here in Atlanta. The women battled to a 10th place team finish while the men came home in 19th overall.

The women's 4x 100 relay broke their own school record they set last April by running a 50.41 and finishing third. Team captain Ravin Foust led her sophomore teammates of Ky'Laine Rogers, Kyana Jenkins and junior Sherry Blystone to the new standard.

Freshman Katy Galli continued her amazing first season by setting her sixth school record in the outdoor triple jump while also scoring in the 400 hurdle, 100 hurdle and long jump competitions.

Other PR's by the women included Khadija Nisar in the 800, Bianca Hernould in the steeple, McKenna Bondarenko in the javelin and discus, Liz Weber in the discus and Kyana Jenkins in the 100 meters.

The men's team had their best meet of the year. Scoring was Max Duwat in the triple jump, Brandon Foster in the 400 meters, as well as both men's relays teams which set PR's in both events. Other individual personal records included Michael Caneega in the steeple, Austin Collier in the shot put and discus, Luq Mohammed in the 800 meters, Kylon Haugabook in the 200 meters and Edgardo Martinez in the javelin.  The PR's in the relays we're quite noteworthy with the men besting conference rival Sewanee in both events.

Both teams now step into the fire next Saturday at the Gem of the Hills Classic at Division I Jacksonville State.
