Fielding a reduced squad due to spring break, the Oglethorpe track and field teams still managed a more than respectable showing at the rain-soaked Emory Invitational this past Saturday.
With only six athletes, the women's team still managed to outscore four other teams in the overall scoring with Katy Galli placing third in the 100 hurdles, and fifth in the triple jump. Ky'Laine Rogers ran her best times of the spring in the 100 and finished a strong fourth in the 200. Bonny Wagener had personal records in all her throwing events and made the finals in both the hammer and javelin. Captain Sherry Blystone had yearly bests in both horizontal jumps and the javelin, while Mallory Arp had personal bests in both the 800 and 1500 meter runs.
The men were led by Michael Caneega's outstanding steeple race and yearly best in the 800.
The track Petrels return to Emory again this weekend for the two-day Emory Classic where a full squad will be ready to do battle.
