  • Seventy-Six Stormy Petrels Earn Spot on Spring Semester Dean's List

    The Oglethorpe athletic department saw 76 varsity student-athletes named to the university's spring semester Dean's Academic Honors List this week. Students who earned a spot on the spring Dean's List earned a 3.5 GPA over the course of the semester while accruing 12 or more credit hours. The 76 student-athletes joined a total of 356 students overall to earn a spot on the spring Dean's List.

  • Arielle Shaw Earns Track and Field Coaches' All-Region Honors

    Junior Arielle Shaw of the Oglethorpe women's track and field team earned All-South/Southeast Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday, marking her third career outdoor All-Region accolade and her sixth career All-Region honor overall. She's also earned three consecutive indoor All-Region accolades.

    The Oglethorpe athletic department rounded out the season with the Sixth Annual Petey Awards on Sunday, hosted at the university's Turner Lynch Campus Center. The event, which is produced by the Oglethorpe Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), allowed Oglethorpe student-athletes to honor the best and brightest performances of the year while reflecting on the 2017-18 athletic year as a whole.
  • Women's Track and Field Puts Four on All-SAA Teams

    The Oglethorpe women's track and field team placed four members on All-SAA teams this week. The accolades were based on their performance at the SAA Track and Field Championships over the weekend in Sewanee, Tennessee. Sophomore Kayla Trice took home All-SAA First Team honors, junior Arielle Shaw garnered an All-SAA Second Team nod, and junior Nicolette Andrey and freshman Meghan Myler earned All-SAA Honorable Mention.
  • Women's Track and Field Finishes Seventh at SAA Championships

    The Oglethorpe Women’s Track and Field team traveled to Sewanee, Tennessee, Friday to compete in the SAA Track and Field Championships. The Stormy Petrels battled hard, earning 13.5 points on the day, allowing them to rank sixth after the first day of competition.

    The Oglethorpe women's track and field team had an excellent day Friday at the Mountain Laurel Twilight Invitational in Sewanee, Tennessee. They finished in third place at the meet with 69.5 total points, coming in behind only Emory and Birmingham-Southern.

    The Oglethorpe women's track and field team finished tied for 15th at the Berry Field Day Invitational in Mount Berry this weekend. The event occurred over two days at Berry's Valhalla stadium.

    The Oglethorpe women's track and field team finishing tied for 19th at the Emory Classic in Atlanta over the weekend, marking the second straight weekend in which the Petrels competed at Emory's Woodruff P.E. Center track.

    The Oglethorpe women's track and field team finished 18th this weekend at the 2-day Emory Invitational in Atlanta. They scored 15 points as a team, getting several top eight finishes for their athletes on Saturday.
  • Women's Track and Field Finishes 15th at Southern Invitational

    The Oglethorpe women's track and field team finished 15th at the Southern Invitational this weekend in Birmingham, Alabama, as junior Arielle Shaw scored the lone points of the weekend for the Stormy Petrels with a third-place finish in the triple jump. The Stormy Petrels finished ahead of SAA competitors Sewanee for the meet, and came in fifth among Division III teams.
  • Shaw Takes Indoor All-Region Honors

    Oglethorpe junior Arielle Shaw was named an All-Region honoree Monday for her performance during the indoor track season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Shaw was honored for her performance in the triple jump out of the South/Southeast region. It marks her second career indoor All-Region honor and fourth overall USTFCCCA All-Region accolade, after earning back-to-back outdoor All-Region honors over the past two years. She picked up her previous indoor honor in 2016.

    The Oglethorpe women's track and field team took 11th place at the Victor Icebreaker Duals on Saturday, getting their outdoor season underway at Valhalla stadium in Mount Berry.

    The Oglethorpe women's track and field team closed out their indoor season with a solid showing at the 5-team Sewanee Indoor Invitational in Tennessee, finishing third at the event ahead of SAA opponents Berry and Sewanee.

  • Women's Track and Field Pulls Down Seventh Place at Tiger Indoor Invitational

    The Oglethorpe women's track and field team finished seventh at the Tiger Indoor Invitational in Sewanee, Tennessee, Saturday, recording 24 points to finish ahead of a pair of SAA rivals in Millsaps and Sewanee. The Petrels earned a couple of podium finishes on the day, as well, as sophomore Kayla Trice earned second in the 55 meters and the 4-by-400 team did the same.
  • National Girls and Women in Sports Day to Be Held Feb. 4 in Dorough Field House/Schmidt Center

    The Oglethorpe athletic department and the Oglethorpe Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day Sunday, Feb. 4. The event will take place in the Traditions lobby of Dorough Field House and in the Schmidt Recreation Center. 
  • Women's Track and Field Finishes 23rd at Season-Opening Meet, Shaw Finishes Third in Triple Jump

    The Oglethorpe women's track and field team opened their season Sunday at the Emory Crossplex Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama, with a meet featuring a third-place finish from junior Arielle Shaw and several school records in the process. The Stormy Petrels came in tied for 23rd in the meet, which featured a variety of Division I and Division II competition.
