Junior Arielle Shaw of the Oglethorpe women's track and field team earned All-South/Southeast Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday, marking her third career outdoor All-Region accolade and her sixth career All-Region honor overall. She's also earned three consecutive indoor All-Region accolades.
Shaw once again earned All-South/Southeast honors in the triple jump, where she finished with the fourth-best mark in the region. She leapt 37 feet, 5.25 inches at the Torrin Lawrence Memorial on the campus of the University of Georgia in Athens on May 5. That allowed her to finish fourth at that meet, and gave her the fourth-best mark in the league over the course of the season. She came in behind only Britney Sullivan of Trinity (Texas) (best mark in the region: 39-6), Courtney Adams of Bridgewater (Virginia) and Cortnee Priour of Texas Lutheran.
Shaw also earned All-SAA Second Team honors after finishing second in the triple jump at the conference meet in late April, posting a mark of 37-2.25.
"Arielle has been a mainstay on these All-Region lists throughout her career," said Oglethorpe head coach Kirk Shellhouse. "She continues to be one of the best triple jumpers in the region, and I'm very excited to see what she can accomplish going forward into her senior season."
The top five individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the region's top three relay teams. A total of 667 athletes from 184 programs earned 940 All-Region honors.
