Oglethorpe Volleyball to Host "Pink-Out" Event During Wednesday Night's Match

The Oglethorpe volleyball team, in conjunction with the Oglethorpe Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), is hosting a "pink-out" at Oglethorpe's volleyball match against Agnes Scott at 7 p.m. Wednesday night.

The event is to benefit and promote breast-cancer awareness, and will take place as part of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month takes place every October, and was organized by breast cancer charities to promote awareness of the disease and to help raise money for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and a potential cure.

"Our goal is to raise awareness by having the entire school's population show their support for breast cancer by wearing pink throughout the day. Then, at the end of the day, we encourage everyone to come together for the final women's volleyball game at 7 p.m. Wednesday night and fill the gym with pink," said Frankie Vascimini, president of the Oglethorpe SAAC. "This is just a small way to show those fighting breast cancer and the survivors that the OU community is there for them and thinking about them."

The match will be the Oglethorpe volleyball team's final home match of the season.
