The Oglethorpe volleyball team's winning streak ended at three matches Sunday afternoon when they fell to Millsaps, currently at second place in the SAA standings, 3-1 (25-12, 25-12, 30-32, 25-16).
The Lady Petrels dropped the first two sets, but kept the match alive by winning a marathon third set, 32-30. However, they were unable to keep any momentum from that and take it into the fourth set, and Millsaps closed out the match, 25-16.
McKenna Bondarenko slammed home 24 kills in the match to lead the squad, and also contributed 15 digs to the effort. Megan MaKuck had 24 digs and Erin Shelton had 15. Anna Marie Disalvo chipped in 35 assists and 16 digs of her own.
The loss drops the Lady Petrels to 6-12, 2-12 in SAA play. They will next take the court on Tuesday, when they travel to Demorest, Ga., to take on Piedmont at 7:30 p.m. in a non-conference match. The Lady Petrels are 4-0 in non-conference matches this season.
