The Oglethorpe volleyball team lost at Piedmont Tuesday evening, falling to the home-standing Lions on Senior Day, 3-1 (25-21, 22-25, 27-25, 25-22).
Sophomore outside hitter McKenna Bondarenko led the Lady Petrels with 25 kills on 71 attempts. New setter Anna Marie Disalvo continued her excellent work in that area as she put up a whopping 50 assists over the four sets. Sophomore libero Megan MaKuck led the team with 26 digs, while Erin Shelton had 17 and Katherine Cassell had 13. Shelton also posted 11 kills on the night.
The Lady Petrels fall to 6-13 on the season with the loss. They will next be in action on Friday, when they will start their weekend-long stay in Mount Berry, Ga., for the Berry College Invitational. They will play Wesleyan at 3 p.m. and Faulkner at 7 p.m. on Friday. They will then play Agnes Scott at 10:30 a.m. and Brenau at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
They will be right back on the campus of Berry next weekend for the SAA Tournament. They own the No. 7 seed in that tournament and will take on No. 2 seed Millsaps at 12:30 p.m. next Friday, Nov. 2.
