  • Men's cross country finishes third at SAA Championships, four individuals earn top 15 finishes

    The Oglethorpe men's cross country team finished third at the SAA Cross Country Championships in Mount Berry Saturday, earning 60 points to come in just behind second-place Rhodes, 12 back of champion Centre, and 19 ahead of fourth-place Berry. The Stormy Petrels came in with an average time of 26 minutes, 30.06 seconds on the 8-kilometer course.

  • Men's cross country places second in final tune-up prior to conference meet

    The Oglethorpe men's cross country team finished second Saturday morning at the Berry Invitational in northwest Georgia. The Stormy Petrels showed well in their final tune-up before the SAA Championships, scoring 66 points and besting every team in the field other than regional power Emory, including Division I Chattanooga and SAA foes Berry, Sewanee and Millsaps.
  • Men's cross country finishes 2nd at Foothills Invite, tops among non-Division I teams

    The Oglethorpe men's cross country team finished second at the Foothills Invite in Oxford, Alabama, Saturday morning, only coming in behind Division I South Alabama. The Stormy Petrels bested 23 other teams on the day, including a mix of Division III, Division II and NAIA competition, finishing with 68 points to come in just ahead of Division III power Emory and well ahead of the remaining 22 sides.
  • Men's cross country reserves finish second at Sewanee Invitational; Brummett finishes sixth among women

    The men's cross country reserves finished second Saturday at the Sewanee Invitational in Tennessee, accruing five top 10 finishes on the morning. In addition, freshman Sarah Brummett finished sixth among 25 runners in the women's 6-kilometer race.

    The Oglethorpe men's cross country team finished second among Division III teams Saturday at the Rhodes College Invitational. The Stormy Petrels finished sixth overall with 210 points, coming in behind Emory and Division I teams Tulsa, Memphis, Arkansas State and Cincinnati, but ahead of defending SAA champions Rhodes.
  • Men's cross country reserves finish seventh at UTC Twilight Meet

    The Oglethorpe men's cross country reserves competed Friday evening at the UTC Twilight Meet on a hot, dusty course in East Ridge, Tennessee, finishing seventh among non-Division I competition but finishing with a better total time than Division I Tennessee State.
  • Cross country gets season started at JSU Strut's meet

    The Oglethorpe cross country teams got their seasons off to solid starts Friday night at the JSU Strut's Season Opener, hosted by Jacksonville State in Oxford, Alabama. The men's team finished fourth at the meet, coming in ahead of Division I schools Troy, Mercer, Alabama State and Jacksonville State. The women's team saw two of their four runners finish in the top 70 of the field, with freshman Sarah Brummett earning a spot in the top half of the women's field.

    The Oglethorpe men’s cross country team returns on Friday with their opening meet of the season, and they’ll look to improve on an outstanding 2018 campaign that saw them finish second at the SAA Championships and eighth at the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional. The Petrels enter this season ranked 10th in the South/Southeast region preseason poll.
