The seventh-seeded Oglethorpe women's soccer team fell to the homestanding second-seeded Rhodes Lynx Saturday in the first round of the SAA tournament in Memphis, Tennessee. Rhodes scored three goals in the first half en route to a 4-0 win over the Stormy Petrels, ending the visitors' season at 9-8 overall.
Rhodes opened the scoring in the 15th minute, then added additional goals in the 24th and 38th minutes. The Lynx outshot Oglethorpe 20-4 over the opening 45 minutes of play.
The home side added a fourth goal in the 66th minute, putting the contest away. The Petrels held Rhodes to a 9-2 shot advantage in the second half, but couldn't work their way back into the game. They were outshot 29-6 over the course of the game.
Junior goalkeeper Lindsey Bolas tallied five saves in a losing effort on the day.
The 9-8 overall record marked the program's most wins since they finished 10-7-2.
