The Oglethorpe women's tennis team completed their stay at the John McWilliams Fall Invitational at Lagoon Park in Montgomery, Alabama, in fine fashion Sunday, earning several excellent results.
In the women's singles main draw final, junior Hannah Dattilo played Millsaps' highly-ranked Grace Gaskins tough, but eventually fell 6-3, 6-1. In the final of Draw 2, sophomore Elizabeth Bielicki fell to another Millsaps performer, but sophomore Lisette Phillips won fifth place in that draw.
In the doubles competition, the tandem of Dattilo and senior Shannon Cruz fell in the final of the main draw, but Bielicki and Phillips won all three of their matches in the third draw, winning the title.
"This was a good event for us," said Oglethorpe head coach Peter Howell. "The girls fought hard, battled back in some matches, and learned a lot about each other. This was a great team-bonding event for us, and will help us get ready for the ITAs in two weeks."
The Stormy Petrels will head to Emory's campus Sept. 28 through 30 for the ITA South Regional Championships.
