  • Three volleyball Petrels earn All-SAA honorable mention

    Three Oglethorpe volleyball players earned All-SAA honorable mention Monday as voted by the league's coaches. Junior middle blocker TaKorya Green, sophomore outside hitter/setter Emma Williams and freshman outside hitter Jackie Schner all garnered the award. It served as the first career All-SAA award for all three Petrels.
  • Volleyball season comes to close with 3-0 loss at Birmingham-Southern

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team saw their season come to a close Friday evening in Birmingham, Alabama, as they fell to the homestanding Birmingham-Southern Panthers 3-0 in the first round of the SAA Tournament, dropping sets 25-16, 25-12 and 25-14. The loss meant that the Stormy Petrels end the season with a 6-20 overall record.
  • Volleyball closes regular season with 3-0 victory over Agnes Scott

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team snapped their 12-match losing streak Wednesday night in their final game of the regular season, sweeping the visiting Agnes Scott Scotties 3-0 to go into postseason play at 6-19 overall. The Stormy Petrels won the three sets 25-18, 25-20 and 25-15.
  • Volleyball closes SAA regular season play with 3-0 loss at Centre

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team closed SAA regular season play Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 defeat to the homestanding Centre Colonels in Danville, Kentucky. Centre jumped on the Stormy Petrels early and then won a couple of tightly-contested sets, winning 25-8, 25-22, 25-19. The result dropped the Petrels to 5-19 overall and 0-14 in SAA play. They've lost 12 in a row and 19 of their last 20 matches.
  • Volleyball blanked 3-0 at Sewanee
    October 26, 2019
    The Oglethorpe volleyball team fell 3-0 to the homestanding Sewanee Tigers Saturday in Tennessee, losing the sets by scores of 27-25, 25-10 and 25-18. With the loss, the Stormy Petrels fell to 5-18 on the season overall and 0-13 in SAA play.
  • Volleyball drops 3-1 decision to Rhodes on Senior Day

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team got off to a good start in their match with the Rhodes Lynx Sunday afternoon at Dorough Field House, taking the first set 26-24. However, Rhodes ran off three sets in a row after that to win 3-1 and spoil Senior Day for the Stormy Petrels. The loss dropped the team to 5-17 on the season overall and 0-12 in league play.
  • Volleyball fights valiantly against Hendrix, but falls 3-0

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team played three tight sets with the visiting Hendrix Warriors Saturday afternoon inside Dorough Field House, but the Warriors won all three en route to a 3-0 win. They won the sets 25-22, 25-23 and 25-22, respectively. The result dropped the Stormy Petrels to 5-16 on the season overall and 0-11 in SAA play.

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team fell 3-0 to the homestanding Millsaps Majors Saturday morning in Jackson, Mississippi. They lost the three sets by scores of 25-13, 25-14 and 25-22, falling to 5-14 on the season overall and 0-9 in SAA play.
  • Volleyball falls 3-0 to No. 6 Berry at Dorough Field House

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team found themselves in a tough match against the Berry Vikings Wednesday evening, and fell 3-0 to the No. 6 Berry Vikings at Dorough Field House. The Stormy Petrels dropped the three sets 25-15, 25-18 and 25-15. With the result, they dropped to 5-13 overall and 0-8 in SAA play on the season.
  • Volleyball swept in three straight sets at Hendrix

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team dropped their fifth straight match Sunday afternoon, falling 3-0 to the homestanding Hendrix Warriors in Conway, Arkansas. The 12-3 Warriors jumped on the Stormy Petrels early and didn't let up, dropping the visitors to 5-12 overall and 0-7 in SAA play.
  • Volleyball drops four-set match at Rhodes

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team fell behind early Saturday afternoon in Memphis, Tennessee, and never could get back into the contest, falling 3-1 to the homestanding Rhodes Lynx. The Stormy Petrels fell 25-20, 25-19, 22-25, 25-14. With the defeat, they fell to 4-11 on the season overall and 0-6 in SAA play.
  • Volleyball drops SAA home match to Sewanee
    September 29, 2019
    The Oglethorpe volleyball team suffered a tough loss to the visiting Sewanee Tigers at Dorough Field House Sunday afternoon, dropping the match 3-1. The Stormy Petrels and Tigers split the first two sets, but Sewanee won the next two to clinch the match. The result dropped the Petrels to 5-10 overall and 0-5 in SAA play.
  • Volleyball suffers difficult five-set loss to Centre

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team looked in good shape Saturday afternoon at Dorough Field House, up 2-1 after three sets as they went in search of their first SAA win of the year. The visiting Centre Colonels won the final two sets, though, to flip the match around and win 3-2. With the loss, the Stormy Petrels fell to 5-9 on the season overall and 0-4 in SAA play.
  • Volleyball falls at top-ranked Emory

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team competed toe-to-toe with the No. 1 Emory Eagles in Thursday's opening set at the Woodruff PE Center, falling 27-25 after attaining set point at 25-24. Emory pulled away from there, though, taking the next two sets 25-11 and 25-18 to sweep the Stormy Petrels 3-0. The result dropped Oglethorpe to 5-8 on the season.
  • Volleyball comes back from set down to beat Covenant
    September 25, 2019
    The Oglethorpe volleyball team fell to the visiting Covenant Scots in the opening set Wednesday night at Dorough Field House, but roared back over the next three to take down their opponent 3-1. Covenant won the first set 25-22, but the Stormy Petrels then ran off victories of 25-17, 25-14 and 25-18 to take the match. The result improved the team to 5-7 on the season.
  • Volleyball swept by Millsaps and Huntingdon in doubleheader

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team had a tough day Sunday at Dorough Field House, losing a pair of matches to fall to 4-7 on the season. The first match of the day was a 3-0 defeat to conference foe Millsaps, dropping them to 0-3 in SAA play on the season. The second was a hard-fought out-of-conference contest against Huntingdon which, though competitive throughout, ended 3-1 in favor of the visiting Hawks.
  • Volleyball falls to Birmingham-Southern 3-1 in home opener

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team fell 3-1 to the visiting Birmingham-Southern Panthers Saturday in their home opener at Dorough Field House. After dropping the first two sets 25-11 and 25-21, respectively, the Stormy Petrels came back with a 25-21 win in the third. The visiting Panthers clinched the match with a 25-13 victory in the fourth set, though, dropping the home side to 4-5 on the season overall and 0-2 in SAA play.
  • Volleyball falls to No. 5 Berry in straight sets

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team found in itself with a tough matchup Wednesday evening, facing off against the No. 5 Berry Vikings on the road in both teams' SAA opener. The home side controlled the match throughout a 3-0 win, winning sets 25-15, 25-13 and 25-20. The defeat dropped the Stormy Petrels to an even 4-4 on the season overall.

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team fell 3-1 to the homestanding Covenant Scots Saturday in Lookout Mountain, Georgia, losing by a score line of 25-22, 23-25, 25-19, 25-23. The result dropped the Stormy Petrels to 4-3 on the young season.
  • Volleyball falls to Marietta and Baldwin Wallace on second day of Franklin College Tournament

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team fell in a pair of matches Saturday to close out the Franklin College Tournament in Indiana. They dropped their first match of the day to Marietta 3-0 before taking the first set but then falling in three straight to Baldwin Wallace 3-1. The results dropped the Stormy Petrels to 4-2 on the young season.
  • Volleyball remains undefeated with 3-0 sweep of Franklin

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team continued its outstanding play to start the season Friday, sweeping the homestanding Franklin Grizzlies 3-0 to start their weekend at the Franklin College Tournament in Indiana. The win improved the Stormy Petrels to 4-0 on the season, marking the program's best start since the 2014 team won their first six matches.
  • Volleyball completes 3-0 opening weekend with 3-1 win over Belhaven
    August 31, 2019
    The Oglethorpe volleyball team moved to 3-0 to start the season at the Emory Classic Saturday, defeating Belhaven 3-1 from the Woodruff PE Center. The Stormy Petrels won two of three hotly-contested sets to start the match, then cruised to a 25-19 win in the fourth to secure the victory.
  • Volleyball sweeps opening day at Emory Classic

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team got their season off to an outstanding start Friday, sweeping both Piedmont and Emory and Henry 3-0 at the Emory Classic in their first two matches of the season. The Stormy Petrels defeated the Lions 25-20, 25-20, 25-19 in the morning, then came back in the afternoon and beat the Wasps 25-13, 25-15, 25-14. They'll look to extend their 2-0 start to 3-0 Saturday morning when they play Belhaven at 11 a.m.

    The Oglethorpe volleyball team returns to the court this weekend, as they’ll head across town to Emory for three matches to kick off a new era for the program.
