ORLANDO, Fla. – Day four of the Oglethorpe men's tennis team's trip to Orlando, Florida, saw the Stormy Petrels win their third straight match, defeating Goucher 6-3 behind five singles victories.
Ameya Dani and Daniel Cohen were both big winners in the top two singles spots. Dani won his third straight match with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 1, and Cohen stayed perfect with his team-best seventh win of the season, improving to 7-0 with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2. Zoe Raymond, Cameron Burkes and Tony Molinet also won at No. 4, 5 and 6, respectively, with Burkes winning in a close third set super tiebreaker. Kirkman Kiker similarly went to a third set super but came up just short, 10-7.
In doubles, Raymond and Burkes improved to a team-best 5-2 record with an 8-2 victory on court two.
Izzy Forster picked up Oglethorpe's lone singles win on the women's side against Kalamazoo, while Katie Hunter and Sydney Dattilo combined for the lone doubles win at No. 3 doubles. Forster bounced back from dropping the first set in a tiebreak to beating Caroline Norton 10-6 in a super tiebreaker. Hunter and Dattilo won their match 8-6.
Oglethorpe finishes its current trip to Orlando with one more match Thursday morning at 8 a.m. The Stormy Petrels will face Luther in a women's and men's dual match.
