Areas to Support
Your Stormy Petrels are counting on you to be part of the team that moves this storied program into the future. For Oglethorpe Athletics to reach the next level, address the needs required for success, and adequately support championship teams and exceptional student-athlete experiences, we need your continued support.
These are four broad areas where your gift can make a difference:
Athletics’ Greatest Needs
Gifts directed to this unrestricted fund give the director of athletics the flexibility to address emerging priorities and unexpected critical needs as they arise. The resources from this fund impact 325+ student-athletes across all 16 teams. Your support of this fund ensures that Oglethorpe student-athletes have the opportunity to win in the classroom, in competition and in life.
Sport-Specific Funds
Gifts can be designated to the Stormy Petrel team of your choice. Our 16 Stormy Petrel teams play in the NCAA’s Division III, as part of the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) – a league of the most selective liberal arts colleges in the South. Gifts made to a sport-specific fund are used at the discretion of the director of athletics at the head coach’s request to address the current needs of the team. This may include enhanced travel opportunities, team uniforms or equipment, or other general program needs.
Endowments
An endowment is an investment in future generations of student-athletes. Once established, endowed funds provide a long-term impact. The principal investment is held in perpetuity, with an annual allocation from the investment income supporting needs as designated by the donor. The intent of endowed funds in athletics is to have a consistent, long-term impact on the athletics program. Endowed funds begin at $25,000 and can be established through multi-year pledges. Athletic Impact Campaigns
As special projects arise throughout the year, dedicated campaigns will be shared that are targeted to these impact projects.
