ATLANTA -- It was a clean sweep from top to bottom for the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels Saturday afternoon in the women's tennis season opener. Two doubles matches and three singles matches did not drop a game as Oglethorpe topped visiting LaGrange 9-0.
Izzy Forster at the top of the lineup was one such match. The sophomore defeated LaGrange's Hannah Miller 6-0, 6-0. Brianna Ali and freshman Taylor Glover in her debut posted the same score at No. 3 and No. 6, respectively.
Sydney Dattilo won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, Alexis Salgueiro won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 singles, and Maddie Nolen, in her debut, won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.
Forster and Dattilo combined for an easy 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles while Ali and Glover combined for the same result at No. 3 doubles. Salgueiro and Nolen dropped only three games in the No. 2 doubles spot.
Match Notes
- Oglethorpe stayed perfect at 5-0 against LaGrange since 2011.
- The last time these two teams met was in 2021 and resulted in a 5-4 Oglethorpe victory. Dattilo also won both her matches in that win.
Up Next
Oglethorpe hosts Agnes Scott next saturday, Feb. 25, at Downing Howell Tennis Courts. Doubles is set to start at 12 p.m. It will be the first of five remaining home matches this spring.
